Sonitrol of Ft. Lauderdale Attains ETL Listing for Fire Safety Services
(Fort Lauderdale, Fla.) -- As a growing number of South Florida cities require third-party inspection for fire alarm systems, Sonitrol of Ft. Lauderdale announced it has achieved ETL (Edison Testing Laboratory) certification for its fire system installation, servicing, testing, and monitoring offerings.
The ETL Listed Mark from Intertek indicates proof of product compliance to North American safety standards and is the fastest growing product certification mark in North America. Sonitrol of Ft. Lauderdale President and CEO John Ray, III said ETL certification positions his Fort Lauderdale-based company to better serve office, retail, industrial and healthcare facilities in municipalities that have adopted the stringent fire safety inspection requirement.
“By attaining ETL certification, we continue to further our mission of ensuring that our customers enjoy dependable, uninterrupted operation of their fire detection systems, which must comply with complex municipal fire codes,” Ray added. “Dade County and a growing number of Palm Beach County municipalities are requiring third-party certification of fire system installations and servicing. It’s a trend we expect will keep growing, eventually becoming a requirement in cities throughout Broward County as well.”
Authorities Having Jurisdiction (AHJ) — such as local municipal fire marshals and fire inspectors in 50 states and Canada — accept the ETL Listed Mark as proof of third-party fire system certification. Similar to UL (Underwriters Laboratories), the ETL program assures AHJs that the fire alarm system has been installed, is being properly maintained, and participates in annual independent third-party oversight by a Nationally Recognized Testing Laboratory (NRTL) to ensure full compliance with all federal, national and local standards and codes.
