FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla., Jan. 18, 2016 – John Ray, III, president and CEO of Sonitrol of Fort Lauderdale and Level 5 Security Group, has joined the Broward Workshop as a member of the Board of Directors.
Ray is a longtime business and community leader whose two independently owned firms based in Fort Lauderdale offer the electronic security industry’s most innovative, fully integrated technology for the commercial, industrial, education and government sectors.
With a membership comprised of chief decision makers from 100 of BrowardCounty’s major businesses and professions, the Broward Workshop is a private, non-profit, non-partisan business organization. Since its founding in 1981, the Workshop has brought leading local businesspeople together to facilitate positive solutions to the county’s critical issues by encouraging cooperative efforts among entities working for countywide, specific, long-range common goals.
As an advocate striving to expand Broward’s opportunities for entrepreneurship and access to financial education, Ray serves as chairman of the 55-member Junior Achievement of South Florida Board of Directors. He also is a member of the Board of Governors of Nova Southeastern University’s Huizenga School of Business and Entrepreneurship and the St. Thomas Aquinas Alumni Association. He is past president of the Executives’ Association of Fort Lauderdale and of the Sonitrol National Dealers Association.
Ray earned his BA and MBA degrees fromMillsapsCollegein Jackson, Miss. He is a licensed electrical alarm contractor for the State ofFloridaand is active in the Alarm Association ofFloridaand theFloridaCrime Prevention Association.
